Filming the young girl

In the beginning of my piece, after the hyperlapse of the reversed sunset, there are a number of shots of the young girl who later turns into the fairy. At this point in my piece she is still human and then as soon as the close up shots of her features and the older fairy's mark the transition from child to teenager and human to fairy. Within the middle of my piece I noticed that I had, in my shotlist, decided to keep the shots only of the fairy and then go back to shots of the young girl at the end. Along with many other parts of my piece, when filming I decided I wanted to alter this. I thought it would look better and be easier to understand if while the older fairy is crying and laying in a ball on the floor, after her wings have been ripped off, there are flashback shots of her younger self. One of the main shots of her young self that I wanted to include was the younger fairy being the one to blow the glitter away. If you look at my first draft of my piece in the rushers review, you can see that on the line 'blow me away' I decided to just use a repeated shots of the glitter running through the fingers. I decided to change this. I thought it would be more powerful and emotional if her younger self was the one blowing the glitter, her power and happiness, away.

I chose to do this because many victims blame themselves. 'If I hadn't of been there it wouldn't of happened','If I hadn't of trusted them then I wouldn't of got myself in that situation' and in this case 'If I hadn't of been so naïve he would not of hurt me.' I really wanted to involve some of this concept of the abuse being self inflicted and the victims fault within my piece and so that is why I included the younger girl blowing the glitter rather than it just being anonymous hands. I thought this would have a more relatable and powerful affect on the audience as within daily life it is common for people to blame themselves rather than the real perpetrator.
